Who We Endorse - November 2024
-
Vadim Mozyrsky
Vadim is a proven community organizer who understands the nuances and gaps in our public health system from the purview of his role as a federal disability law judge. He sees the waste and lack of accountability of our tax dollars as we allow people to continue suffering on our streets and knows we cannot let it continue. We need decisive action now, not more studies.
His opponent is the Policy Director for Disability Rights Oregon, an organization that refused to help ADA defendants sue the city for tents blocking sidewalks. They also opposed the state legislature’s “fix” for Measure 110 and the city’s illegal camping regulations. If you want to see change, vote Vadim!

Sam Adams
Former Mayor Sam Adams knows how to get things done effectively and efficiently. While we supported Jessie Burke in the primary and understand hesitance from some of our members, we need someone who knows the ins and outs and will fight against the status quo with regards to spending for homelessness, mental health, & addiction.
His opponent was the former Interim Director of the Joint Office of Homeless Services for 1-year in 2022, and nothing changed under her direction and she fought to keep JOHS staff working 100% remote after return-to-work guidance was approved at the county. If you want less of this type of status quo, vote for Sam!

They can unlock more funds after reaching 750 & 1,250 individual donors

November 2024 - Rank Choice Voting
Portland is implementing the new city charter starting with our ballots in November 2024, which expands the current city council from 4 to 12 members starting in January 2025, and eliminates the May 2024 primary. It also adds single-transferable rank choice voting method (RCV) for all city of Portland positions and multi-member districts.
The city has been split into 4 districts (see link above to find what district you reside in) and each district will have 3 council members representing them. Council members can be elected from any area of your district, so you will not necessarily have diversity of residence unless you look into what neighborhood all of the candidates live in.
You will get to rank 6 positions total on your ballot for your district only. You will not be able to rank every single candidate in your district, just your top 6 choices. You do NOT have to rank all 6 positions if you do not like 6 people, which is important and we’ll explain shortly why. We do recommend ranking at least 3 people since there are 3 open positions - picking only 1 person will effectively disenfranchise you from having a voice in choosing all 3 of your representatives.
The mayor and auditor will be chosen using a ‘basic’ form of RCV, but city council will be using a method called ‘single transferable vote’.
What this means is that once a candidate reaches 25% of the votes, the software will start taking fractions of each vote and putting them towards your 2nd, 3rd and so on choices. Elections officials explicitly say do not rank anyone you do not want to see in office, because there is a chance your lower place rankings could help them win.
We endorsed up to 6 candidates per district, but did not endorse all 6 positions if we did not feel there are 6 qualified candidates.
